我們沉痛悼念中國(guó)農(nóng)業(yè)政策研究中心(CCAP）學(xué)術(shù)委員會(huì)（CAC）委員 Uma Lele 博士。2025年7月28日，Uma Lele 博士與世長(zhǎng)辭。她是一位世界知名的農(nóng)業(yè)與發(fā)展經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家、遠(yuǎn)見(jiàn)卓識(shí)的學(xué)者和領(lǐng)導(dǎo)者，同時(shí)也是我們的良師益友。Lele 博士6月份還和CCAP通過(guò)郵件聯(lián)系要來(lái)參加今年10月份30周年慶典活動(dòng)并做報(bào)告，很遺憾她不能參加了。
We are all deeply grieved by the loss of Dr. Uma Lele, a long-time valued friend and distinguished member of the Academic Advisory Committee of the China Center for Agricultural Policy (CCAP). Dr. Lele passed away on July 28, 2025. Dr. Lele was not only a world renowned agricultural and development economist, an excellent scholar and leader, but also a generous mentor and dear friend whose insights, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to excellence inspired countless scholars and touched the lives of many. Dr. Lele emailed CCAP in June saying she was very much looking forward to visiting China in October for the 30th Anniversary of CCAP. It is so sad that we are going to miss her.
半個(gè)多世紀(jì)以來(lái)，Lele 博士在農(nóng)業(yè)政策、農(nóng)業(yè)增長(zhǎng)、環(huán)境與性別平等等領(lǐng)域作出了卓越貢獻(xiàn)，對(duì)非洲、亞洲等發(fā)展中國(guó)家的農(nóng)村發(fā)展、國(guó)際金融與多邊機(jī)構(gòu)作用等問(wèn)題進(jìn)行了深入研究，影響深遠(yuǎn)。她曾擔(dān)任世界銀行高級(jí)官員、國(guó)際農(nóng)業(yè)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)會(huì)（IAAE）主席，并出版了18部著作和逾130篇學(xué)術(shù)論文，其研究成果推動(dòng)了全球農(nóng)業(yè)與農(nóng)村發(fā)展的政策變革。
For over half a century, Dr. Lele made outstanding contributions in the fields of agricultural policy, agricultural growth, environment, and gender equality. She conducted in-depth research on rural development, international finance, and the role of multilateral institutions in developing countries across Africa and Asia, leaving a profound impact. She served as a senior official at the World Bank and as the President of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE). With 18 published books and over 130 academic papers, her research has informed policy reforms in agricultural and rural development around the world.
作為 CCAP 學(xué)術(shù)委員會(huì)的重要成員，Lele 博士長(zhǎng)期關(guān)注并支持 CCAP 的研究與發(fā)展，為我們的學(xué)術(shù)交流、青年學(xué)者培養(yǎng)和國(guó)際合作提供了寶貴的指導(dǎo)與幫助。作為女性經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家的杰出代表，她畢生致力于推動(dòng)性別平等與青年學(xué)者培養(yǎng)，發(fā)起并資助多項(xiàng)支持全球南方女性經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)家的計(jì)劃，培養(yǎng)和激勵(lì)了無(wú)數(shù)后來(lái)者。
As a distinguished member of the Academic Advisory Committee of CCAP, Dr. Lele was a long-standing advocate and supporter of CCAP’s research and development. We are so grateful for her invaluable guidance and assistance in fostering academic exchanges, capacity building, and advancing international collaboration. As an excellent female economist, Dr. Lele dedicated her lifetime to promoting gender equality and mentoring young scholars. She initiated and funded multiple programs to support female economists from the Global South, which inspired countless young scholars.
